Here-in lies a paragraph which inspires your student to, like their peers, submit a nifty form full of feedback which we, as an educational institution, can benefit and grow from.
I wanted to take a moment to let you know about a tremendous opportunity that Parkview has had to collaborate with Pegi Flynt’s Maker Space project. ... This past week Parkview and another school in western Canada piloted lesson plans created by Pegi’s team using a box of materials that were shipped to us (I’m not completely sure whom to credit for this generous gift). The instructional materials sent to us by Google docs were outstanding and easy to implement. They included Nearpod presentations with embedded activities and videos that most teachers I know would not have had the time or energy to create. The box of materials included Ozobots (mini robots), popsicle sticks and other materials for building bridges (this was the theme) and some materials we will be using in lessons this next week. Throughout, spirituality was tightly integrated
I have to say that students were more engaged than I have seen in a long time and, while some of the technology challenged us as teachers, the challenges were manageable and worthwhile. Pegi made her IT team available to us if needed. On Thursday all participants joined via video-conference to debrief and discuss the experience. ...
We have some very enthusiastic students and excited teachers. One student in Grade 4 said, "We didn’t do any work this morning. We built bridges and used a robot." When I said it sounds like you learned something she said, "Oh yeah, but it’s not like work, it was too fun!" Awesome. What a fantastic opportunity.
